November Recap & December Goals!

Last month, I shared 4 goals I had for the month of November. Today, I thought I’d follow up on those goals I set & share some new goals I have for my blog this upcoming month! I hope you enjoy & will perhaps be encouraged to set goals for December if you haven’t already 🙂

How did I do with my November blog goals?

At the beginning of November, I set out to engage more with my audience on WordPress, build a community on Twitter, add an “About Me” page to my blog site, and experiment with creating graphics for my posts.

In all honesty, this past month I fell into a motivation slump with my blog. I often found myself questioning whether or not the content I was putting out was truly helpful.

But I realized that I love this blog and the community that surrounds it. I’ve still observed a need for a source that easily conveys current science news in easily-accessible & easily-understandable ways that might not be done by common news sources. I also think it’s incredibly valuable that this community is able to converse about the content in the comment sections of IG posts or WordPress posts!

In regards to my November blog goals, I have seen myself making more of an effort to engage with my audience on WordPress and build a community on Twitter. I definitely fell off the wagon towards the end of the month, but it’s without a doubt that I say that I will continue these tasks into this next month.

As for an “About Me” page and experimenting with creating graphics … the effort = not great. I did draft a summary for an “About Me” page, but that has since been tucked away into my digital files and not looked at since. In terms of creating graphics, I experimented with designing some simple cover images for my blog posts, but I’d like to take this further, by creating diagrams, timelines, or graphs to illustrate the concepts of the scientific research.

I’ve also decided to post once a week (Mondays at 12:00 PM EST) as opposed to twice a week. I feel like this new schedule will enable me to upload content with much higher quality. 🙂

Here are some of my December goals!
Upload an “About Me” page & experiment more with creating graphics within my blog posts

Goals that I didn’t quite achieve in November, but that I’d really like to tackle this month!

Audio record my blog posts

I’ve recently found out that listening to an audiobook while following along in the book at the same time helps me focus and gain a clearer understanding of the material. I’d like to give audio recording my posts a try to provide my audience the opportunity to listen to, read, or listen to & read the blog posts!

Thank you so much for reading this piece. I’m excited for the future of Brain Sprout blog, and I really appreciate your support! Please feel free to leave a comment down below introducing yourself and/or your own blog — I’d love to get to know you better.

  1. It’s been exciting seeing the advances of your blog! And I didn’t know about your new audio recordings – what a great addition to your scicomm work! Also, I absolutely love the Cicero quote – very true. 🙂

  2. It was relieving seeing how other sci-commers also struggling with keeping up with their content schedule that they had earlier! Personally, even I’ve been struggling and have recently decided that one high quality post should work.

As long as we’re not pressuring ourselves, because accurate information is more important than mediocre content. Love your blog posts! 😊😊
